The Beginning: Setting Tone and Structure(CSIT WEEK I)

Hello and welcome to my Blog for the Fall Semester of the year 2019. The purpose of this blog is not only to be used as a vessel for finishing assignments but for recording and instantiating progress of the class. I should mention the class is CSIT 155, Social Media for Business. I am looking forward to recording my experiences and gaining new knowledge of a large facet of the social media bubble.

Setting The Tone: Picking a Theme
Possibly one of the most important facets of a building website(apart from the code and general backdoor networking) is the aesthetic design and user interaction. Luckily with blogger, it gives us predetermined templates we can choose from in order to skip the whole shenanigans of coding. Themes in general layout the feel and tone of a site and determines what the user sees first and how they interact with said website. Choosing an aesthetically pleasing and fitting tone is the definite first step in developing an efficient blog.

There is a stark difference as well when it comes to choosing colors and layout. Bright colors can create a very eyepopping experience, envigorating the user and keeping them engaged with the reading. Darker colors are more relaxing and create a space where the user can use the blog effectively without much strain on the eyes(like a dark mode theme for Google).

Contempo"rary" and Easy Access
The Contempo theme has a very sleek design and the forested background gives a sense of calm and somewhat homely feel. It's a pretty straightforward theme and template, keeping posts front and center and not behind a tab or blocked by contact information or headers. Overall a pretty solid starting point.

  3. Hi Darius,
I love the dark look of this theme. The forest brings about a sense of peacefulness and calm; your explanation is also very spot on, and the simplicity of the blog is nice. I look forward to future posts.
